The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations. It also recognizes clinicians and practices in key areas of performance. NCQA's Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) is the most widely used performance measurement tool in health care. NCQA's website (ncqa.org) contains information to help consumers, employers and others make informed health care choices.

The mission of the University of California Health System is to make health care better. UC Health represents the clinical and health education arms of the University of California (UC), combining UC’s patient care, teaching and research capabilities. As a large health delivery organization made up of five regional health systems, UC Health has 3,660 licensed beds, more than 165,000 patient admissions, and over 356,000 ER visits per year. UC Health is also the largest health sciences training program in the nation, with 17 professional schools across seven UC campuses, and educates nearly 50% of medical students in California.
